Ferretti Yachts 550 all the comfort of a big yacht in 57 feet

Wednesday, September 8, 2004

The Ferretti 550 has a new layout and for the first time yacht of this size (57 feet, 17.37 metres) is able to offer three cabins and three heads. Special windows have been designed also for this craft, and the benefit can be seen in the natural light in the cabins.
The new Ferretti 550 is testimony to the care and attention that FERRETTI YACHTS Engineering dedicates to all the yachts in its fleet. On request, new and sophisticated technologies can be fitted to increase the owner's comfort. These include NAVIOP, software that allows continuous monitoring, including via SMS, of alarm situations (windows, doors, video cameras and smoke detectors) and also yacht management (electrical system, pumps, tank levels, etc.). The ARG (Anti Rolling Gyro) system is the exclusive gyroscopic anti-rolling system designed for the Ferretti Group by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which cuts the movement caused by waves by over 50%.
The care that FERRETTI YACHTS dedicates to designing its new craft also extends to the interiors, which offer more space and highly luxurious finishes. Opaque light oak open-pore varnished for the furniture, while the floors of the galley and the heads were designed using wengé.
The wheelhouse has a new design which allows all the instruments to be located in a single panel, to ensure better control when piloting the craft. The dinette is located next to the controls along with a small table and a large sofa.

The saloon has been totally redesigned. A U-shaped sofa dominates the space, and there is a dining-table to the right, while on the left there is a sofa. A few steps lead down to the L-shaped galley, with two sinks and black marble worktops.

Below decks there is the master cabin with a spacious double wardrobe and head. The two guest cabins have twin beds, and each has its own head. In order to optimise the use of space on board the Ferretti 550 by means of functional solutions, the head belonging to the cabin on the port side has been designed so that it is also the head that can be used from the day area, thanks to a double entrance which means it can be accessed from the cabin and also from the corridor.

As well as the traditional access from the cockpit, a small staircase from the saloon leads to the flybridge which has been designed with a U-shaped sofa around a low table. Here there is a spacious sunbathing area and all the comforts required for guests to share the owner's favourite area: a fridge, sink with hob and, on request, also a chaise-longue alongside the controls.

For the crew, the Ferretti 550 standard layout provides a single cabin with a head which can be accessed directly from the galley without going through the saloon and disturbing the guests. In case it is needed, there is space in the stern for providing a second service cabin.
Also, the engine-room has been located between the crew's standard cabin (with head and kitchen access) and the option cabin in the stern.

The large spoiler provides room for storing a 3.2 m tender or a jet ski.

Thanks to the new tank, even more capacious, the Ferretti 550 has 11 hours autonomy at a cruising speed of 30 knots. The maximum speed, provided by 2 900 HP Man engines, is 34 knots.
