“A tremendous vote of confidence in a challenging market”

Forlì, September 22nd, 2022 - Ferretti Group, the world-leading luxury yacht manufacturer, is to continue to use Rolls-Royce mtu engines and propulsion systems to power its yachts.

Rolls-Royce's mtu engines and propulsion systems have been deployed by Ferretti Group, especially in its larger models. Their power delivery, reliability and fuel efficiency have earned them a permanent place in the engine rooms of the Group’s yachts.

“Ferretti's renewal of this framework agreement is a tremendous vote of confidence in us and in our mtu products, in a challenging market and a challenging technological environment” said Andreas Schell, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

“Working together, we will also meet the climate and environmental challenges that lie ahead,” assured Denise Kurtulus, Vice President of Global Marine at Rolls-Royce's Power Systems division. For the foreseeable future, the internal combustion engine will be the power source of choice for applications – including yachts – which require maximum performance from a compact power pack, and will have an important part to play as we move into a world of sustainable shipping. In 2024, a Ferretti Group yacht is scheduled to be built with an mtu hybrid propulsion system. Moreover, 2023 will see the mtu Series 2000 and 4000 yacht engines being approved to run on synthetic sustainable fuels complying with the EN15940 standard. These include fuels such as HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) and e-diesel.

"I am extremely happy to announce the renewal of the agreement with Rolls-Royce for mtu products and solutions. The five-year term is crucial, because it offers the guarantee that supplies are always available and prices are sheltered from market swings.” Said Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group. "This agreement also further increases the efficiency of our supply chain, with clear benefits for us and our customers."

In future, Rolls-Royce will be supplying more than its mtu Series 2000 and 4000 to the Ferretti Group. From 2024, Ferretti will also be equipping smaller yachts with complete mtu NautiQ bridge systems developed together with bridge specialist Team Italia, with whom Rolls-Royce has agreed a close partnership.
