Thursday, February 16, 2006

Miami, Fla. – February 16, 2006 - Ferretti Group, a world leader in the engineering and manufacturing of luxury motor yachts and sport boats, announced that its new Ferretti Yachts Model 550 has met National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Yacht Certification Standards. Ferretti Yachts is the first European shipyard to ever meet this standard.
“The Ferretti Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to the US market with our decision to begin certifying yachts we import to the USA.” said Giovanni Vacchi, Executive Chairman of Ferretti Group USA. “The Ferretti 550, a new model we believe has huge potential in the USA, is just the first of what will become a stream of US bound Ferretti Group yachts to be NMMA Yacht Certified. I would particularly like to commend Andrea Frabetti, Ferretti Group Engineering Vice President, as well as the staff of the NMMA and our dealer MarineMax, for their dedicated efforts on this project” Vacchi continued.
The NMMA is the only agency to offer certification for yachts in the United States, and has been commended by the US Coast Guard for this effort to improve boating safety. Yachts meeting the NMMA Certification process, include shipyard inspection by NMMA industry experts and adherence to an NMMA edited version of the internationally known American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards .
