70m CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball: an outstanding project that shapes fully bespoke yacht design.

Montag, 15. Dezember 2025

An ongoing dialogue between aesthetics, functionality and engineering precision, where fine detailing guides the designing of the spaces.

Ancona, December 15, 2025 – CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball, a 70-metre full-custom steel and aluminium displacement superyacht, enters the final stages of construction. A symbol of innovation and cutting-edge technology, she’s a masterful combination of naval engineering and craftsmanship. A sophisticated, one-of-a-kind superyacht, where the interiors are created around the idea of functional aesthetics, with an accurate focus on beauty in every detail.

70m CRN M/Y Project Thunderball combines the design and construction know-how of CRN and Ferretti Group’s Superyacht Division with the experience of Dutch yacht design studio Vripack Yacht Design – which created the exterior lines, the preliminary naval architecture and the preliminary general plans – and the creativity of Nauta Design, which designed both the interiors and the outdoor social areas.

In the design stage, CRN has been handling engineering, final definition of the naval architecture and general arrangements, and management of the project through to delivery.

Y.CO, acting as the Owner’s representative and project management team, has provided technical expertise and careful oversight throughout the construction phase. Working closely with the shipyard, the team has coordinated third-party suppliers and has managed inspection, supervision and acceptance processes, ensuring that the project has been executed to the highest standards while remaining fully aligned with the Owner’s vision.

The superyacht has five decks, a length overall of 70 metres, a beam of 11 metres and a gross tonnage of 1,100 GT. She can accommodate 12 guests in the owner’s suite and five VIP cabins, as well as 15 crew members in nine exceptionally comfortable cabins. She is equipped with an Energy Storage System, designed to manage onboard energy flows based on envisaged operations, capable of peak shaving and silent operation at anchor, contributing to a substantial reduction in fuel usage.Performance wise, CRN M/Y 145 is fitted with MAN V12-1213kW engines that propel the yacht to a top speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. The launch is planned for spring 2026.

This is an iconic project that will leave a mark because of its ability to combine design, technology and sophisticated detailing in a form of timeless elegance.

Highly demanded expectations regarding quality and finishes

A deep and expert background in design and detailing, prompted the shipyard and Nauta to focus simultaneously on the general architecture of the space and details. This guiding approach is spread throughout interiors that combine elegance, technical expertise and refined precision in a harmonious balance between creativity and practicality. Each area maintains its own identity without breaking the overall sense of consistency, making use of different, but similar combinations of shapes and materials, each with their own unique variations.

From the material selection to the definition of solutions for systems and technical parameters, every decision has been guided by a bespoke vision and ongoing dialogue between form and function.
The interiors make use of multiple natural materials: stone, leather, wood, metal and fabrics, whose textures, shapes and colours have been selected and processed with meticulous care and research. Nauta has been deeply involved along the entire production chains back to their sources, from marble blocks to veneer selections and many others. The construction is progressing working alongside craftsmen, suppliers and consultants to celebrate the made-to-measure approach in each element.

A key feature is the continuity of the design between interiors and exteriors: geometries and proportions echo each other, from outside to inside and vice versa, creating a flowing and recognizable path in which patterns are interpreted in different scales, materials and functions to maintain a balance between variety and consistent design.

Light, art and integrated technology

Lighting plays a central role in how the spaces are designed. The combination of bespoke lighting fixtures and detailed technical studies create multiple experiences on board where materials and shapes express at their best. Lighting sources have been designed to be fully integrated with the overall design, sometimes hidden, sometimes becoming specific features, all selected to shape spaces and point up details, furnishings and artworks, creating an intimate and measured mood.

Likewise, the implementation of technology follows the same approach: the onboard systems are top tier but discreet, with concealed components, integrated or given an aesthetic makeover. Innovation is never ostentatious, revealing its presence only in the quality of the end result.

Progress on the construction of the yacht

Work in the shipyard is proceeding. The progress on the exteriors, in line with the building schedule, is ongoing in parallel with the interiors, where all the components are being installed on all the decks, starting from the areas on the lower deck, main deck, bridge deck and sun deck.

CRN’s know-how in the design, engineering and yacht construction, combined with the creative excellence of Vripack Yacht Design and Nauta, plus the ability of the team to understand and adapt all the details to the owner’s needs, highlights the true essence of the brand: the real culture of tailor-made, of bespoke.

This important dedication is reflected not only in the incredible yachts built by CRN, but also in the meticulous processes and bespoke experiences that define every interaction with the owners. Every feature of the brand identity embodies the devotion to customisation and highest quality.
