Avant-garde technology for Ferretti Yachts: naviop and anti rolling gyro system

8 de setembro de 2004

FERRETTI YACHTS is presenting two important technological innovations at Cannes, which it will be installing on the exclusive craft in its fleet. These are NAVIOP, a system for managing and controlling navigation and the ARG (Anti Rolling Gyro) System, a stabilisation system able to reduce the rolling caused by waves by over 50%.
FERRETTI YACHTS has shown a constant commitment to research into new solutions able to guarantee comfort and safety on board. It has now confirmed its position as a top company in luxury yachting with two absolutely avant-garde technologies.

NAVIOP
Ferretti yachts may be fitted with a new central monitoring and control system called NAVIOP. Simple and straight-forward to use thanks to its touch-screen, the system provides information useful for managing the craft, even via SMS. A global monitor makes it possible to keep the electrical systems, levels and alarm conditions under control.
The NAVIOP system identifies, signals and records voltage overloads and variations, even if temporary, helping to prevent possible breakdowns or malfunctions, and effectively increasing safety and comfort on board.
NAVIOP enables complete management of the climate control, lighting and audio-video systems, and can reproduce pre-set combinations of scenarios.
All the levels in the various tanks on board (fuel, solid waste, waste water and drinking water) can be displayed precisely (in figures), clearly and reliably. The precision measurements are guaranteed by self-teaching calibration software that compensates for any errors resulting from the irregular shapes of the tanks. The processed data is used in particularly useful functions like automatic solid waste management. When the tank is full the toilets are blocked and the discharge pump automatically starts working. NAVIOP technology also manages all the alarm conditions, from the surveillance or manoeuvring cameras to the state of any of the doors with seals or portholes. NAVIOP gives immediate notice of every event and logs the event history. This logic means even temporary events which would not otherwise be perceived can be identified and assessed.

The entire system uses SMS to send notices of certain alarm conditions and can be contacted to check the status of the principal parameters of the yacht.

ARG - Anti Rolling Gyro System
Absolute comfort is the new frontier of FERRETTI YACHTS which will be installing the anti-rolling gyro system ARG on its craft. This is an exclusive on the European market, and represents an important innovation in yacht technology, with over 50% reduction in the rolling caused by waves.
The ARG stabilisation system was developed for Ferretti Group by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It comprises a complex gyroscope within a chassis supported by shock absorbers which enable the craft to naturally reduce the rolling effect with a rotation which opposes the movement of the waves.
Powered by electricity, the FERRETTI YACHTS Anti Rolling Gyro System generates a counter-movement that absorbs the kinetic energy of the craft which is hit by the movement of waves. The same system is used in aerospace to keep satellites in their correct orbit position.
As the rolling itself starts up the ARG, the system does not require controls. It simply has to be switched on or switched off.
Spending time on board a FERRETTI YACHTS motor yacht is now even more comfortable, both when cruising and when at anchor or moored in the port.
